Karas Kustoms - The Bolt - Mardi Gras Edition
Mardi Gras is fast approaching. Traditionally falling 47 days before Easter. This year, 2016, it comes early at February 9th. For this Mardi Gras season we've got together with Karas Kustoms to create a very special Bolt Mardi Gras Edition Ballpoint Pen.
The colors of Purple, Green, and Gold are deeply entrenched in the New Orleans Mardi Gras tradition and this pen has been designed with those colors in mind.
There are conflicting reports of how these colors came to be the traditional colors of Mardi Gras. In one story Rex chose the colors in 1872 to honor the visiting Grand Duke Alexis Alexandrovich of Russia, who's house colors were purple, green, and gold. Other stories say that those colors were in fact not the colors of the Grand Dukes house. Instead the colors were representative of a drink that Grand Duke Alexis introduced to New Orleans that contained limes, lemons, and dark purple tonics.
Whatever the reasons the colors have stuck around and in 1892 Rex affirmed the colors meanings.
Purple represents Justice
Green represents Faith
Gold represents Power
