About Clairefontaine

Clairefontaine is a stationery specialist for office, school and handicraft with a long tradition of paper production in the Meurthe valley, France dating back to the creation of the first paper mills in the 16th century. The company is best known for making the first school notebooks in France. Clairefontaine is currently the only European manufacturer making its own papers for its own products. The Clairefontaine mill has been making paper since 1858 and stationery products since 1890. In 1950, Charles Nusse took control of the company and created the famous Clairefontaine logo as he revolutionized the use of notebooks and set the company on a permanent quest for quality products. Clairefontaine began offering high quality notebooks for school children. Now famous for its premium notebooks, Clairefontaine inspires quality through its everyday notebooks that can be found in schools and offices worldwide, having been perfectly tuned to the needs of students, teachers and business people.
