Esterbrook “Phaeton 300R” Mineral Blue Fountain Pen

Legend has it that the president of Esterbrook loved exotic cars. That is why in 1964 the Phaeton 300 was born, offering a sleek fountain pen with a hooded nib. Originally offered as a gift set for Christmas, these pens became a highly sought-after prize in the pen collecting world. The Esterbrook Phaeton rides out into the market once more; reborn as the Phaeton 300R.

The new Esterbrook Phaeton 300R fountain pen has a 1960’s inspired Mineral Blue acrylic barrel with a brushed matte Chrome finish and a gold pen clip that displays the Esterbrook logo. The cap, which is postable, has a resin top that matches the pen barrel. The cap itself has a compression fit so you’ll feel a springiness as it glides into place. The lower section ring matches the color of the nib and the pen clip, enhancing the overall stately design. The Phaeton 300R fountain pen features a gold-plated hooded nib in Medium point size. The Phaeton 300R uses a removable plunger style filling system. To fill the pen, simply unscrew the section from the barrel of the pen and use the plunger to fill the chamber with ink. The Phaeton 300R fountain pen comes packaged in a slim red fabric-covered box with a magnetic lid that is adorned with the Esterbrook logo. Inside you’ll find the pen, an instruction booklet and your warranty card.

About Hooded Nibs

Fountain pens that feature a hooded nib expose less of the ink feed and nib, so your nib won’t dry out as quickly as an exposed nib pen. This helps in note-taking situations where you need your pen to write every time but don’t want to recap your pen. Hooded nibs can also have an aesthetic design appeal.

About Esterbrook

Times may be different, but the Esterbook values stay the same. The Esterbrook Pen Company, a true American Original, is rewriting its long success story in modern times with a fresh new pen collection based on a complete rebranding. Originally founded in 1858 by Richard Esterbrook, the Esterbrook Pen Company was one of the biggest and most beloved pen makers in the world with over 200 million produced and sold pens per year. US presidents Abraham Lincoln, JFK and Lyndon B. Johnson signed legislation with their Esterbrook pens. Disney artist Carl Banks brought Donald Duck to life with an Esterbrook No 356 and Peanuts creator Charles M. Schulz used the No 914 for all his comic inkings. Now owned by Kenro, Esterbrook Pens has released a new range of quality pens at a great value.
