The luxurious Faggionato Pétrarque Blue Tortoise fountain pen, handcrafted in France from cellulose acetate, takes its inspiration from a blue tortoise shell. You’ll find random swirls of Gold, Blue, Green and Burgundy throughout the pen’s barrel and cap. The Pétrarque Blue Tortoise has a simple, streamlined design with a slightly concave hourglass section with optimal finger positioning, making it very comfortable to hold during long writing sessions. The threaded screw cap, which can be posted, has Faggionato’s distinctive curved Stainless Steel pen clip with a debossed Faggionato logo at the top. The pen clip is alluring; you might find yourself fidgeting with it while deep in thought. The Pétrarque Blue Tortoise fountain pen is available with your choice of a Stainless Steel, Gold-plated Stainless Steel, Titanium or Gold Bock nib in a range of Extra Fine, Fine and Medium nib sizes. If you choose Gold or Gold-plated nibs, your pen clip will be Gold-plated to match. The Faggionato Pétrarque is a cartridge/converter style fountain pen that comes packaged in a black Faggionato gift box with white foil stamped lettering on the outside, a velveteen lining and a magnetic closure.

What is Cellulose Acetate?

Cellulose acetate is a resin made when plant fibers are processed, dyed, then heated and bonded together with solvents to produce colorful blanks. The blanks are stored in a specialized chamber for several weeks for drying and then the solvents are removed using evaporation. The blanks are then cut, turned and polished into pens. Faggionato’s whole process is carried out in France.
