The Platinum Maki-e pen collection uses real gold powder when lacquering their Maki-e fountain pens. Maki-e is a traditional Japanese lacquer art where a makizutsu or a kebo brush is used to decorate a pen body with Urushi lacquer. Each pen displays a hand painted traditional Japanese motif that has gold dusted accents. The pen’s artwork is slightly raised from its surface, enhancing the depth and texture.
