This Murano Multi-Colored Glass Dipping Pen is an elegant, full sized writing instrument made entirely of glass and comes with a matching Murano glass base. Murano glass dip pens are handcrafted following 16th Century Venetian traditions. The glass pen has a lovely wave-like pattern and is available in six colors. Murano Venetian glass dip pens are beautifully balanced, have a comfortable grip and can be used by both right-handed and left-handed writers. Glass dip pens were originally developed for letter writing and record-keeping. Small grooves in the glass tip act as capillaries to form an ink reservoir. A single dip should let you write a sentence. Writing with a hand-blown glass dip pen has a lovely, relaxing rhythm and gives the final written page a distinctive and personal look.
There is a “lifetime warranty” on the glass tip - should it break, Papier Plume will replace it at no charge, but only request $10 for shipping and handling.
Glass Dipping Pens make an artful statement when given as a graduation, anniversary, wedding, birthday or holiday gift. Many writers use them daily when journaling, or keep a range of them as artistic pieces on their desks or bookshelves.
IMPORTANT: Only use fountain pen ink with a Glass Dip Pen.
Length: 8.5"
Glass Dip Pens hold ink in the small yet deep grooves in the tip as you write. Dip pens work best with thinner fountain pen inks because the thin grooves don’t allow the more viscous calligraphy ink to flow well. Thicker ink hugs the tip and dries, making it difficult to clean completely. Dip your glass tip about halfway into your inkwell, then remove any excess ink. To begin writing, use a light amount of pressure (as compared to a metal nib pen), then vary that pressure to see what works best for you - just don’t apply excessive pressure as you write or the glass tip (or glass pen) might break. Try writing at an angle and not vertically. Clean your pen regularly as you write by dipping it in water every 2-3 minutes and then wiping the tip off with a cotton cloth.
