The LAMY 2000 has been writing design history since 1966 and it is still one of the most modern writing instruments today. Function alone determines form. With this design principle Lamy has won the hearts of many design enthusiasts throughout the world. When the Lamy 2000 made its first appearance, it was the first writing instrument of the modern era which did not seek to be a status symbol, but simply an honest, high-precision tool for writing by hand.
The sleek, modern Lamy 2000 Mechanical Pencil features a Black Macrolon fiberglass body with beautiful brushed stainless steel trim, including a pocket-safe conical pencil tip and a spring-mounted pocket clip. Clicking the top push button advances the pencil lead and the button can be removed to reveal a long, replaceable Z 10 eraser and an attached cleaning needle for clearing out lead jams. The Lamy 2000 mechanical pencil uses either 0.5 mm (LAMY M 41) or 0.7 mm (LAMY M 40) lead and there is a lead size indicator printed on the top of the push button. The Lamy 2000 comes in a lovely presentation box with a lifetime Lamy warranty.

The Lamy brand is defined by their timeless modern aesthetics and perfect functionality, embodying the Bauhaus principle of functional design: ‘form follows function’. This approach makes Lamy products unmistakable style icons and the name Lamy a quintessential brand. Lamy has always collaborated with world renowned designers who continually provide Lamy with inspiration for new fine writing instruments. Yet, in spite of ever-changing creative input, the typical Lamy design is always preserved and clearly recognizable – thanks to the brand’s well-proven design principles based on the consistent symbiosis of aesthetics and functionality.
