Calligraphy is a visual art related to writing that creates lettering with a broad tip instrument, brush or other fine writing instrument like a metal nib fountain pen or glass dip pen. Calligraphic writing ink is usually water-based and is much less viscous than the oil-based inks used in printing. High quality paper, which has a thickness and good absorption consistency enables cleaner lines, although parchment or vellum can also be used. Calligraphy continues to flourish in the forms of wedding and event invitations, font design and typography, original hand-lettered logo design, religious art, announcements, graphic design and commissioned calligraphic art. Glass Pens are not just fine writing instruments, but pieces of art in and of themselves. They are relatively simple to use - dip the tip in your inkwell, remove any excess and begin to write! You’ll immediately notice the nice flow of the ink over the paper. Cleaning and switching inks is an extremely quick process, which makes glass pens ideal when trying out new ink colors. Dip your pen tip in a bowl of water and wipe it clean with a paper towel. Then move on to your next ink! As long as you have a bottle of ink nearby, glass pens help you capture your thoughts anytime of the day or night. After dipping into your inkwell, a glass pen can write multiple sentences before needing to be re-dipped. Calligraphy Fountain Pens and Glass Pens make a perfect graduation, anniversary, wedding, birthday or holiday gift. Many writers use them daily when journaling. They also make a classy statement at company award ceremonies or for use with a guest book.
